Glass Blowing Classes

Introduction to Glass Blowing (G1) No prerequisites Learn the fundamentals of the glassblowing studio: the tools, glassblower's bench, furnace, safety, and how to gather hot glass on an iron gathering rod.  Each student creates at least one clear glass paperweight, and another with decoration. Then put your knowledge to work with this introductory glassblowing lesson.  Emphasis on gathering, marvering, neck-line, and blowing a bubble--the foundation for blown glass.  Each student creates a hand-blown ornament and possibly another with decoration.

Glassblowing and Tumbler Workshop (G2) Prerequisite: Class G1 or comparable experience Continue the blowing lesson with more ornaments and then get more out of glassblowing with this tumbler lesson.  Make and decorate drinking glasses (tumblers), work with hot bits and more.  Each student creates a tumbler or two of their choice and design.  Imagine drinking your orange juice from your very own hand-made tumbler!

Hot Glass Lab (G3) (aka: Skill Building) Prerequisite: Class G2 or comparable experience A change from the more structured classes, Hot Glass Lab is all about building confidence through hands-on experience. We can put on music, talk about ideas and explore new forms as you develop your individual "voice" as a glass artist. After repeating this lab a few times, take your skills to the next step - renting glass blowing studio time by yourself or with others to gain more experience and express your own vision in glass.

Blow Your Own Glass Ornaments (G4) Put your creativity to work and have fun making full-sized hand-blown glass ornaments.  Ther are great gifts or to hang proudly on your tree.  Each student creates and decorates several ornaments in this all day ornament workshop.  Beginner's welcome.

Registration & Fees Each class is $275 includes lunch and water. Register for two classes for $495 (save $55).
