Advanced Fusing - Pot Melt and Boiling Technique

November 7th, Saturday, 9:30 - Noon

Beginning Fusing is a pre-requisite.

This fun class will allow you to create a pot melt and a unique 6 inch tile by 'over-firing'. The class will also create a combed/raked piece in a flower pot saucer.

The glass Boiling Technique is a method of bringing compatible glass scrap up to a very high temperature and allowing the glass movement to create the design.  You end up with a unique pattern of glass that can be used whole or cut up with a tile saw and the sections used as design elements in another project.

Pot Melt is a process used to create a unique glass disk.  System 96 glass scrap is heated in a clay pot inside the kiln and the glass flows from the bottom of the pot in a thick syrupy manner that results in a spiral or circular pattern.  The disk can be used whole or cut up with a tile saw and the sections used as design elements in another project.

Combing or raking hot molten glass will create a pattern in the glass.  As with the other techniques, this can be used whole of cut up into sections with a tile saw and the elements used in other projects.  Combing will be a class project to give you additional ideas on how glass designs can be created.

Limit to 4 students.

$95 includes the use of tools and all supplies including glass.
